Tour Overview

Embark on a trek to the highest ice lake in the world and traverse the highest mountain pass, Thorong La, following the premier mountain trekking route. Immerse yourself in the majestic Himalayas with our expert guiding team, staying overnight in tourist-standard local tea houses nestled within authentic villages. The trek begins in the hidden gem of the Manang Valley and concludes in the ancient kingdom of Mustang.

The Thorong La Pass and Tilicho Lake Trek commence from Chame village, following a lengthy drive from Kathmandu. The scenic plateau landscape of the Manang Valley, with its stunning Himalayan views, provides an enjoyable trekking path to Tilicho Lake, situated at 4,949 meters. An acclimatization day in Manang aids in adjusting to the high altitude. The region, influenced by Buddhism, features numerous monasteries and Buddhist mani walls, alongside temples set against the backdrop of towering mountains. Gradually, you acclimate to the altitude, staying in high-altitude areas.

Upon reaching Tilicho Lake at 4,919 meters, you should be acclimated enough to breathe normally. Revel in the beauty of Tilicho, the highest lake, surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan scenery. From here, the trail becomes steeper as you approach the highest Himalayan pass, Thorong La. Crossing the 5,416-meter Thorong La is the most challenging part of the trek, leading you to Muktinath. Now in another valley of the Annapurna region, Mustang, you complete your trek in Jomsom, from where a flight will take you to Pokhara via a small airport.

Welcome to Nepal—the land of hills, mountains, and legendary trekking trails. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a representative from Elite Nepal Treks and tour will right at the terminal gate. From there, you’ll be comfortably transferred to your designated hotel in the heart of Kathmandu.

It’s also a great moment to share your expectations, ask questions, and connect with fellow trekkers.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Wake up to the rhythmic hum of prayer wheels and the scent of incense drifting through the air. Today is all about discovering the spiritual and artistic soul of Nepal.

Your guided city tour begins with a visit to Pashupatinath, Nepal’s most sacred Hindu temple, where rituals unfold along the Bagmati River in a timeless dance of devotion. From there, you’ll journey to Boudhanath Stupa, a colossal mandala and a center of Tibetan Buddhism, where monks chant beneath fluttering prayer flags.

Next, ascend the steps to Swayambhunath, the iconic “Monkey Temple,” perched atop a hill with panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley. Its blend of Hindu and Buddhist symbolism offers a glimpse into Nepal’s harmonious spiritual tapestry.

In the afternoon, dive into the living museums of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur—three ancient cities brimming with intricate woodwork, stone carvings, and the unmistakable aroma of Nepali spices wafting through narrow alleyways.
