The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, located north of Pokhara in the Annapurna region, is one of Nepal’s most scenic and accessible trekking routes. Renowned for its breathtaking sunrise views from the top of Poon Hill (3,210m), this trek offers panoramic vistas of iconic Himalayan peaks including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), the Annapurna range, and the majestic Dhaulagiri. Along the trail, trekkers pass through charming traditional villages, vibrant rhododendron forests, and have the option to unwind in natural hot springs. With well-established teahouses and lodges throughout the route, there’s no need to carry tents or food supplies, making the journey both comfortable and beginner-friendly. This moderate trek blends cultural immersion with stunning mountain scenery, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a short yet unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

You will be greeted warmly at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Elite Nepal Treks representative. After your arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel, following the check-in process and some rest, you can explore Thamel, known for its trekking goods, Money changers, handicrafts, along with great restaurants. We will conduct a pre-trek briefing at our office. You will spend the night in a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Pokhara( 25min flight ) - Tikhedhunga (1,750m) 2.5hrs drive and to Ulleri ( 1480m) 1.5 hrs walk

After a delightful breakfast at the hotel, you will start your day with a 25-minute flight to Pokhara which allows breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas. We will take a smooth drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, then continue on a bumpy road to Tikhedhunga. There we will have lunch before starting the steep ascent to Ulleri, a beautiful village with panoramic views of the Annapurna South, Himchuli, and the tip of Fishtail Top mountain peaks. Spend the night at the local lodge.

Day 3: Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,810 m)

The next day, you will start a modest hike from Ulleri to Banthati, then walk through a forest to Nagthanthi for lunch before continuing the trail to Ghorepani. Ghorepani lies in the heart of the Rhododendron Forest, just below Poonhill. From this beautiful village, you will be able to see overwhelming views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. You will rest at a teahouse overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 4: Trek to Ghorepani (2840m)

Leaving Tikhedhunga, we continue with our journey with a steep climb up Ulleri. Uleri is a large Magar village at 2070m. The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2250m. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2460m before arriving at Ghorepani at 2840m. Ghorepani is a relatively large village with excellent views of the Annurpurna range, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. Here you can stock up on supplies such as drinking water, snacks etc.

Day 5: Hike up to Poon Hill (3210m) and trek to Tadapani (2710m)

Dhaulagiri ranges. An excellent vantage point, Poon Hill provides an unobstructed view of the high Himalayas. Here we spend an hour or so before returning back to Ghorepani for breakfast. Leaving Ghorepani, we climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests toward Deurali (2960m) before reaching Tadapani.

Day 5: Trek to Ghandrung ( 2000 m)

After having the local breakfast  we will start our  walk to Gandruk village. Today the trail continues with beautiful forest along with the agriculture field of the villagers. Gandruk is the beautiful and famous village from where the great scenario of the Himalaya range  can be seen There is gurung comunity musium you can visit and an old farmer village in tehe  side,rich of gurung culture so you spend some time exploreing the village. There is Gurung  culturel musium that  you can visit.You can see nice sunset over the annapurna mountain.Overnight at Lodge.

Day 7: Drive from Ghandrung to Pokhara ( 3 hrs) and explore around.

After breakfast, we take a scenic drive to Pokhara, check into the hotel, and after lunch, we take a tour around Pokhara. First visit Devi’s Fall, in Nepali term for it is Patale Chango, derived from the literal translation of Paatal Ko Chango, meaning “Underworld’s waterfall.

Just opposite of Devis fall, we visit Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, considered to be the most famous and longest cave in Nepal (2950m).  found during the 16th century.

Then we drive to the International Mountain Museum is the best museum where you can learn about the vast mountain ranges in Nepal, their ethnic groups, and their lifestyle. You can also learn about international mountains, amazing wonders, and famous mountaineers’ lifestyles. It has a stunning collection of artifacts, original mountain gear, stories, and photographs of the mountains, their inhabitants, and the explorers who climbed some of the highest peaks in the world.

In the early evening, we take youboating tour on  Fewa Lake, it’s a 5 Square Km lake which is beautiful with a magnificent view of the mountains both in the distance and reflection in the water. You will also boat to a holy temple middle of the lake. Spend your night at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 8: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

After a scenic drive from Ghandruk to Pokhara, enjoy a short and comfortable 25-minute flight back to Kathmandu. As you soar above the lush hills and snow-capped peaks, take one last look at the majestic Himalayas—a perfect aerial farewell to your trekking adventure. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved rest or final explorations in the vibrant capital.

Day 9: Transfer to International airport for your flight

Your journey in Nepal comes to an end today. After breakfast, our team will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight home. We bid you farewell with warm memories, hoping to welcome you again for another adventure with Elite Nepal Treks.
