This trek offers a complete adventure, taking you through the Mesokanto La Pass at 4,949 meters and to the stunning Tilicho Lake, which sits at 4,919 meters. You’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna Massif during this memorable 14-day trek.

The journey includes a visit to Tilicho Lake, the world’s highest lake, and the culturally rich village of Manang. The trail leads through the deepest gorge on earth, the Kali Gandaki Gorge, and over one of Nepal’s highest altitude passes, the Thorong La Pass. You’ll also visit the sacred Muktinath Temple, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, at 3,802 meters, located at the base of Thorong La Pass. The trek takes you through various forest types, from sub-tropical to rhododendron and cypress forests, offering spectacular views of the Annapurna Ranges and Tilicho Lake, perfect for photography enthusiasts.

The 14-day trek begins in Kathmandu. From there, we drive to Chamje and start trekking towards Dharapani, passing through Chame and Pisang to reach Manang. We then head to Khangsar and continue to Tilicho Base Camp for an overnight stay. The next morning, we trek for about 9 hours to reach Yak Kharka. The following day, we trek to Jomsom. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. You can relax or explore the lively streets of Thamel in the evening.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Today, enjoy a guided cultural tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. In the evening, prepare for your adventure with a pre-trek briefing.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Besisahar (6–7 hours by bus)

After breakfast, drive to Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region. The scenic journey winds through hills, river valleys, and terraced farms, offering your first taste of rural Nepal.

Day 4: Besisahar to Pisang (5 hours by jeep)

From Besisahar, a jeep ride takes you along rugged mountain roads to the beautiful village of Pisang, set against the backdrop of Annapurna II and surrounding peaks.

Day 5: Pisang to Upper Pisang

Today’s short hike ascends to Upper Pisang, where you can admire traditional stone houses, local monasteries, and panoramic views of the Annapurna range.

Day 6: Upper Pisang to Gharu Nawal to Manang View Point (6–7 hours)

This scenic trekking day offers dramatic views as you pass through Gharu Nawal, a traditional village rich in culture, and continue towards Manang View Point for a stunning Himalayan panorama.

Day 7: Acclimatization in Manang

A rest day for acclimatization. Explore the vibrant village of Manang, visit ancient monasteries, and enjoy optional hikes to nearby viewpoints to prepare your body for higher altitudes.

Day 8: Manang to Ledar (5 hours)

Ascend steadily along alpine trails, leaving behind the tree line. The trek to Ledar offers majestic mountain views and increasing solitude as you approach the high Himalayan wilderness.

Day 9: Ledar to Chulu West Base Camp – Camping (5 hours)

Trek further to the Base Camp of Chulu West, where you’ll begin your climbing adventure. Set up camp at the base and enjoy a night under the stars.

Day 10: Base Camp to Camp 1

Today involves a steep ascent to Camp 1. The trail becomes more challenging with snow and rocky terrain, offering a true alpine experience.

Day 9: Camp 1 to Chulu West Summit and back to Camp 1  (8-9 hours)

Summit day! An early start takes you to the top of Chulu West (6,419m), rewarding you with spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Return to Camp 1 after the climb.

Day 12: Camp 1 to Ledar

Descend from Camp 1 back to Ledar, retracing your steps and enjoying the downhill journey through rugged, high-altitude landscapes.

Day 13: Ledar to Tilicho Base Camp (7–8 hours)

Continue toward Tilicho Base Camp, crossing remote and scenic terrain. This is a long but rewarding day with incredible views of the mountains and glacial rivers.

Day 5: Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake – Camping (5 hours)

Trek to the pristine Tilicho Lake, one of the world’s highest alpine lakes. Camp near the lake and enjoy the serene, spiritual atmosphere and the reflection of snow peaks in the water.

Day 14: Tilicho Lake to Eastern Pass View Point (4–5 hours)

Cross Tilicho Lake’s Eastern Pass and spend the night at the viewpoint behind the pass, offering mesmerizing views and a sense of remoteness.

Day 16: Eastern Pass to Mesokanto La and Yak Kharka (6-7 hours)

Today’s journey is adventurous, crossing the Mesokanto La Pass and descending to Yak Kharka. The trail is rugged but rich in natural beauty and alpine scenery.

Day 17: Yak Kharka to Dhini (6 hours)

Descend further to Dhini, a tranquil stop along your journey. Enjoy a warm meal and reflect on your incredible journey so far.

Day 18: Dhini to Jomsom

Trek through the dramatic Kali Gandaki valley to Jomsom, a bustling town in the Mustang region. Enjoy the contrast of the high desert landscape and Tibetan-influenced culture.

Day 19: Sightseeing in Marpha, Tukuche & stay in Jomsom

Take a day to explore the charming villages of Marpha and Tukuche, famous for apple orchards, traditional stone houses, and rich cultural heritage. Return to Jomsom for the night.

Day 18: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight

A short, scenic flight takes you to Pokhara, where you can relax by the lakeside or celebrate your successful trek with a warm meal and comfortable accommodation.

Do I need prior climbing experience for Chulu West Peak?

Some basic mountaineering experience is recommended, but our experienced guides will provide training and support during the climb.

What is the best season for this trek and climb?

The best seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is stable and views are clear.

Is altitude sickness a concern on this trek?

Yes, altitude sickness can be a risk. However, the itinerary includes acclimatization days and our guides are trained to monitor and manage symptoms.
